’49 Mercury  Stock & Custom

 
   These two a both AMT ’49 Mercury Sedans. The white one is totally box stock, other than I added foil to it, and pin striped the interior. The other is the first of many that I’ve customized. I started by cutting off the top, chopping the windshield, and making a rag top for it. Next I shaved the body, I made my own side trim for it, I wanted something other than the normal Buick side trim, that’s how I came up with this. The body is painted Testors Stop Light Red over black, and over gold in the side trim. I made a bumper extension for the spare tire, added a set of lake pipes, lowered it, and used a set of Caddy hub caps. The interior is lined with upholstery material from the fabric store.
